Automobiles in Germany's City Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police reported they were alerted by a man who discovered a automobile in Hanau smeared with reddish liquid

Approximately fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Officers say they were notified late on Wednesday, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.

The substance had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then located multiple other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement state early analysis suggest the liquid was most likely human blood.

"At present there remains no indication as to its source; authorities are not yet informed of any harm in relation with the event," they stated.

Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to solve the case" and have appealed to the community for details.

A high-ranking political figure said the incident left him stunned and had to be solved quickly.

"This act hits the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on social media, referring to the murder of nine victims by a gunman targeting individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
